‘Xiame Dégas & Tropa’ is a world orchestra with strong roots in the Afro Brazilian musical universe. The energy and joy of life is honestly expressed through the original compositions that move through melancholic melodies and poetic lyrics, based on rhythmic and harmonic diversity.

With musicians who go by the names Agbedoglo, Degas, La Cour Bravo, Pedersen and Sommer it is clear to see that here we a great cross cultural collaboration.

"With Tropa I have found the perfect team that can express the thoughts, ideas and feelings behind my compositions," says Xiame Degas, who grew up in an extended family where music and creativity has been a natural focal point for the family's identity.

The music is at the same time catchy, recognizable and surprisingly innovative. "Xiame Degas & Tropa" represents both the Brazilian grassroots as well as the sophistication of the modern world and jazz music.

Grew up in a large family with music as a fundamental part of everyday life. The son of a Danish mother Stenia, who is  both a songwriter and a choir leader and a Brazilian father, renowned bass player Jorge Degas, Xiame has from early childhood been involved in many and varied musical and cultural contexts through his parents' musical work. Because of this musical upbringing Xiame has had the possibility to perform, as well as record with prominent artists from all over the world.

As a 19 year old, Xiame Degas co-founded the cultural school called 'CulturArte' and simultaneously served as a project manager and founder of the Youth Festival 'SMILE' both on the island of Funen, Denmark.

From 2006-2012 the foundation as a composer was formed through the collaboration with the group  'Mistura' which performed around the country of Denmark. From 2012, the focus has been on composing new material, which is now coming to life and being shared with the band 'Xiame Degas & Tropa'.

Xiame lives in the small village of Køng, on Funen, Denmark with his wife singer and songwriter Julie Degas. Together they have just released a new Live CD from Julie Dégas called 'Sabiá'. The CD was co-produced by Xiame Degas and has just been released through the Brazilian record company Fina Flor in Rio de Janeiro.
